Say Goodbye to Aches and Pains!
Our expert registered massage therapy services are integrated with an advanced understanding of the body, to provide a holistic therapeutic approach and a relaxing way to unwind your body’s tense tissues.
However, there is so much more to massage therapy than that. The following provides a brief overview of the benefits you may gain through massage therapy.
At our Mississauga massage therapy clinic, our massage therapists use a variety of techniques to stimulate the release of muscle knots and tension. By using different strokes, kneading methods, and more, your muscles will become ‘unstuck’ from the myofascial tissue.
When points of tension occur, it’s often because your muscle tissue and myofascial tissue, the connective layer that covers the entire muscular system, become adhered together. This may happen from scar tissue build-up, injury, or muscle dysfunction. Luckily, an RMT massage can help eliminate this.
Pressure applied during a massage encourages the flow of fluids throughout the body, including blood circulation. This helps improve blood flow and helps remove toxins or byproducts, as well as brings any cells necessary for healing into the affected area.
A massage appointment is a great way to pamper yourself. If you’ve had a tough week or a hard day, a massage can help you relax and forget about any worries or stressors — at least it can for the time being!
Since regular massage therapy helps increase blood flow, it can also help loosen and stretch muscle fibres, giving way to increased mobility and flexibility. This may help eliminate stiffness in the joints and allow you to move with more ease.
Deep tissue massage therapy can help further your recovery by stimulating your body’s natural healing abilities. This may mean a faster and smoother recovery time, as well as less chronic pain. In turn, you spend less time on the sidelines — whether that’s in life or your sport of choice — and more time doing the things you love.
Massage therapy is beneficial for individuals of all ages. In fact, it’s one of the oldest healing treatments on the planet.
Conditions and injuries that massage treatment can help with include:
If you have a previous health condition, we recommend discussing your options with your doctor before booking a massage therapy appointment. Massage may not be suitable for individuals with bleeding disorders, burns, open wounds, deep vein thrombosis, or for those that are on blood-thinning medications.
To eliminate our waiting room, we ask that you fill out new patient intake forms online before your appointment and that you arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.
You can also rest assured that all the information you provide us is confidential.
Before you arrive, make sure you drink water, eat beforehand and wear loose clothing.
Your massage therapist will then perform an assessment to understand further how to help. This may involve asking you about any previous injuries or prior health conditions. From there, your therapist will work with you to determine the best treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.
Before your massage begins, your therapist will go over how massage works. Depending on the affected area, your massage therapist may leave the room to allow you time to unclothe and cover yourself. Your therapist may also use oils or lotions throughout your treatment, to prevent friction between their hands and your skin.
If you feel discomfort at any point, just let your massage therapist know. They will adjust accordingly. After all, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
Following your appointment, again, make sure you drink plenty of water. This can help flush any byproducts or toxins that were released by your massage out of your system.
It’s also not unusual to feel sore the day after your massage. Usually, this disappears within 24-48 hours.
Depending on your reason for seeking out massage therapy, you may need to book a follow-up appointment. The number of sessions you require depends on you and your condition.
