WHAT IS NEUROFUNCTIONAL ACUPUNCTURE

Neurofunctional Acupuncture treatment is a precise peripheral nerve stimulation technique. Very fine acupuncture needles are inserted into neurofunctional sites around the body and can be stimulated with electricity. This helps regulate the abnormal activity of different body systems such as the nervous and endocrine systems as well as regulating pain syndromes. Neurofunctional acupuncture is a unique form of acupuncture, as your practitioner will use their knowledge of neuroanatomy to insert the needles in specific sites to treat your injury.

The hamstrings are so important. And often weak and tight.

In this video, Mat is treating one of the four hamstring muscles in the leg – the long head of the biceps femoris. The reason this muscle is so important is that it attaches the pelvis down to the lower leg at the head of the fibula, which is a very important joint in the body. This system is also going to have an influence down to the ankle via the fibula and its related muscles. Essentially this joint connects the pelvis, knee, and ankle!

When we simulate this area, you can see in the video that we are getting rotation all the way down into the lower leg.

Treatment of this area helps with:

– ankle and foot problems

– knee problems

– hip problems

– improved blood flow

– improve mobility with most sports that involve running and walking

What Does Acupuncture Help With?

Acupuncture can help with a variety of conditions, including pain relief, stress reduction, and improved sleep. It is also used to treat a wide range of medical issues such as headaches, migraines, digestive problems, menstrual cramps, arthritis, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Acupuncture has been found to be effective in treating many types of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions such as neck pain, back pain, and sciatica.

Where Does Acupuncture Come From?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical practice that has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body in order to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system and releasing endorphins, which are hormones that help reduce pain and promote relaxation. The practice is based on the belief that energy, or qi, flows through the body along pathways called meridians.

Are Acupuncture and Dry Needling the Same?

No, acupuncture and dry needling are not the same. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical practice that involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body in order to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Dry needling is a modern technique that uses thin filiform needles to target trigger points in muscles and connective tissue. While both techniques involve needle insertion, they are used to treat different conditions and have different effects on the body.
